On Disco Fling Music
Video
For this video, it was so important for me for it to be
funny and eye-catchy! Everybody needs a little bit of humour and colour in
their life. The girls that are in it are actually my real-life friends. We were
hanging out one day and I just threw out the question, “Do you guys wanna help
me film a music video?” Three days later we were on set. I’m so lucky to be
surrounded by such amazing people. I really appreciate their help, and I hope
you can see our friendly chemistry throughout the video.
On Encore
Encore is a blessing in my life. I love picking up my phone
and playing whatever the hell I want (laughs) It’s really the future of music.
Disco Fling was quite successful on it when it came out, which I was thrilled
about! It’s quite surprising because I didn’t really expect this kind of sound
to be popular among the youth. But I’ve learned one thing in this industry, it’s
to never underestimate your young audience. Just because a sound was popular
decades ago, it doesn’t mean that they won’t enjoy it today!
On her Album
My album is, almost there! We’ve had a minor change in plans
so now I just need to build around it. At the moment, it’s just devising an
album campaign. The music landscape has changed so much lately. As we talked
about before, streaming has a huge hand in success nowadays. I want to make
sure that we’re on track. I have an exciting plan envisaged, and I hope that I
can work it out with my label. That being said, you’ll definitely get the album
name and a new song next month!
On Collaborating with
Primark
You’ve heard already? Wow, word travels fast! Yes, Primark
& I are collaborating on a campaign. My Glastonbury performance really
inspired me to work more in the UK. Primark is renowned for its affordable,
stylish clothing, and I am absolutely honoured to work with them. I want to
show all my fans and followers that you don’t need to spend hundreds on clothes
to look good. I know that’s rich coming from a pop star, I mean, we all wear
elaborate, crazy expensive pieces. But, I am devoted to helping people feel
just as expensive and polished but at a much less hefty price tag!
On Twitter and Chinese
fans.
Twitter is a wonderful place to connect people, but like all
good things, it’s often abused. Not a day goes by that you don’t read some
trolling comments or something hurtful. You just have to remember that
sometimes we get over-confident behind the internet. 99% of the mean comments
you read on twitter would not be said to your face, so don’t get too hung up
about them. I’ve noticed that I have a large Chinese fanbase on twitter. I love
you guys and thank you so much for supporting me! You are all a blessing to me.
