Katy Perry on I Am A Singer
By Katy Perry - May 26, 2018

Pink smoke enshrouds
the stage. The crowd “oohs” and “aahs” in anticipation. A large disco ball hangs
up above the stage and catches the light of camera flashes from the audience.
The ball starts to spin slowly. Drums roll in, quietly at first, but they grow
louder as the disco ball speeds up. Katy Perry appears on stage to a round of applause
and screams. She stands still in the centre of the stage. She winks right before
the beat drops. Dancers join her for some simple choreography. The stage dulls
down as Katy begins singing. The audience are audibly singing along. When the chorus hits in, Katy is joined on stage by two
male dancers. They do choreography reminiscent of the one in the video. In the
second verse, Katy pretends to flirt with both men. However, she teasingly pushes
them away in the end. For the second chorus, she is joined by a team of dancers.
Behind her, visuals appear of embarrassing club photos, candids from the Disco
Fling video. As It reaches an end, more smoke envelops Katy. Blue lights illuminate
the space around her around her. Katy drops to her knees and sings the
pre-chorus, accompanied only by a piano. “Why do I feel this way, about a
stranger, stranger?” Katy falls into complete silence. However, as soon as she
stands up and smirks, the lights blaze on and the synths kick in. Katy is
joined on stage by all the dancers, and they all lift her up for the last
“Disco Fling.” Katy encouraged the crowd to join in “Sing it!”
