Evening everyone, tonight we are joined by pop’s latest sensation, Katy Perry! Tell us Katy, how does it feel to rise to fame quite quickly?
It’s honestly bizarre. Every now and then I get the “There’s the Disco Fling girl, lets get an autograph!!” which is still so crazy. But I love it.
Have you had any weird fan encounters yet?
I got like three serious marriage proposals. (laughs) I’m VERY flattered, but sorry boys, I’m enjoying life as a single woman!
Is that what Disco Fling is about, not being tied down and enjoying casual encounters?
You can say that! Yes. It’s really just about celebrating the connection you have with people on a dancefloor. You don’t owe them anything, you might never see them again, but you just enjoy yourselves nonetheless!
That song has been soaring up the charts lately.
Indeed it has! It’s in the top 20 as far as I recall and I’m honestly bewildered! I didn’t expect such a positive reaction to Disco Fling. I mean, I know that I love it myself, but you’re always sceptical as to whether fans will love it too.
I’ve heard that you rented out a club for the video.
(Laughs) Yes, it had to be done! The club owner actually thought it was for a party, and when we told him that we’d like it for 2 days straight he gave us the strangest look. He was thrilled to have us record in it though, and we’re thrilled to have it because it’s a lovely place!
The video itself is quite humorous. It’s rare to find that in music lately.
I think so too! I’m not a very serious person, so I wouldn’t be pulling an artsy-fartsy faux deep video. I mean, the song is called “Disco Fling!” (laughs) I wanted to make it light-hearted. I think people like to go back to what makes them smile.
What about your other song, Can’t Read You, will that be getting a video?
I wish I could give all my songs a video, but there’s only so much budget you have! Can’t Read You is fairly story-telling in its nature already, so I think that a video would only mix messages. There are some things that you should just leave to the imagination. But hey, never say never!
Is the album finished?
It’s almost there. I need to give it a few finishing touches, and have “the talk” with my label. But really, it’ll be out soon!
I’ve heard that you’ve collaborated with a few big names for it.
Yes! My upcoming single features Ariana Grande and Cardi B. It’s a really hot track. I also have collaborations with Charli XCX and Zara Larsson. All incredibly talented ladies!!
What are you obsessed with at the moment?
Tinashe’s new single. It’s so good. She’s such a talented girl and I’d love to hang with her. I’m also loving Charlie Puth’s new song with Ariana.
Well that’s it for today ladies and gentlemen, but stick around to see Katy perform her latest hit single “Disco Fling!”

The lights dim down and the bass rolls in. Katy appears on stage with a high ponytail and metallic clothing, very reminiscent of her Glasto ensemble. As the beat kicks in, Katy’s outfit begins to glow and the stage erupts in disco lights. Purples, Pinks and blues reflect off her clothing. The lights become less prominent as she begins to sing. “You command the room, Like nobody else.” She is joined by backup singers in the pre-chorus. When the chorus hits in, Katy is joined on stage by two male dancers. They do simple choreography reminiscent of the one in the video. In the second verse, Katy pretends to flirt with both of the men. However, she pushes them away in the end. This time she is joined by female dancers in the chorus, both wearing similar ensembles to Katy. As It reaches an end, smoke enshrouds Katy. Blue lights dance around her. Katy drops to her knees and sings the pre-chorus, accompanied only by a piano. Why do I feel this way, about a stranger, stranger?” The crowd “oohs” at the stripped rendition. However, as soon as she stands up and smirks, the lights blaze on and the synths kick in. Katy is joined on stage by all the dancers, and they all lift her up for the last “Disco Fling.”
