Today we’re here with the lovely Katy Perry to talk about her latest single “Disco Fling” and her upcoming album! How are you Katy?

Brilliant thank you! How about you?

Not too bad here either. So tell us Katy, Disco Fling has seen really good success for a debut single. How do you feel about it?

It’s honestly just so surreal! I don’t know how It happened, but it did! It has really taken off on encore, which we’re ecstatic about!

Have you got any more plans for the song?

Yes! We’re dropping the video on Wednesday! I’m sure my fans are delighted to hear that considering I’ve just been saying “soon” every time. I will also be performing on The X Factor and Jimmy Fallon, which is super exciting!

Does Disco Fling represent the album’s sound as a whole?

I’ve got to be really careful with how I answer this (laughs.) Yes in the way that the album is full of upbeat dance tracks. There’s a few songs that are like Disco Fling, but then there’s some that are nothing alike it but they work well together as an album.. I hope!

When is the album coming out?

The album is almost finished. I only have small refinements left. We’re hoping for a Summer release, but you know how this industry is. Take everything with a grain of salt!

Who did you work with on the album?

I’ve worked with my usual co-writers like Ferras and Sarah Hudson. We make a dream team! I’ve had the pleasure of working with Alesso, Stargate, Max Martin and many more producers. I’ve reunited with Duke Dumont for two fire tracks. One of them, "Body," features Ariana Grande. I’m super excited for you to hear it!

Ariana Grande? That’s amazing! How did that come about?

I’m a huge fan of hers. I think she is a wonderful person and a phenomenal musician. We had the track ready, and I really wanted another gal on it. I reached out to Ari and the rest is history! I’m really proud of what we did on the song!

Can’t wait to hear it! Now let’s talk about your more under-appreciated track, “Can’t Read You.” It’s probably more, lyrically in-depth than “Disco-Fling,” would you agree?

Maybe not necessarily in-depth, but more acute on my love life. Disco Fling is about, as the title suggests, a fling. Obviously, it’s a bit more carefree in its nature. Can’t Read You focuses more on a specific person. I couldn’t figure out what we were doing. There was no communication between us. Despite this, I kept coming back, even though I knew that we would crash and burn eventually.

You mentioned that the Disco Fling music video is coming soon, can you tell us something about it?

Yes! It’s a really fun video. I had a good time recording it. It’s very, very goofy in nature! That’s just how I am. Anyway, there is a storyline, there is lots of dancing and there are legwarmers!
